Picnic and Parade(At Penn’s Landing): At Columbus Boulevard from Washington Avenue beginning at 9:30 a.m.). The parade will be followed by a festival picnic featuring live music, food, magicians, face painting and more. Entry to the picnic is $5.

Food Myths Busted
Posted on August 12, 2010 · Leave a CommentFood can be a tricky thing. We hear things about all of our favorite foods as if everything thats not organic is completely unhealthy. That’s not true at all. Here is clarification on a few food myths …
Myth 1. Eating eggs raises your cholesterol levels.
Truth Dietary cholesterol found in eggs has little to do with the amount of cholesterol in your body.
Myth 2: The only heart-friendly alcohol is red wine.
Truth Beer, wine, and liquors all confer the same health benefits. Alcohol—the ethanol itself—raises levels of protective HDL, or good cholesterol, which help protect against plaque buildup in the arteries and reduce clotting factors that contribute to heart attack and stroke.
Myth 3: Adding salt to the pot adds sodium to the food.
Truth Salt added to boiling water may actually make vegetables more nutritious.
Your Turn: What are a couple of Food Myths that you are aware of?
